Things I'm loving, wanting and excited to try-4-30

I know it's been a few weeks since I've written a blog post, so let me briefly catch you up on my life these days. Let's just say life is happening behind the scenes and moving fast. It feels like I just blinked, March turned into April, and now we are approaching May. Is anyone else in shock that tomorrow is the beginning of May? I'm looking forward to the month of May because my schedule won’t be so jam-packed with to-dos and events. March and April were busy months at work and in my personal life. My goal during the month of May is to move at a slower pace, take time to breathe, and enjoy life. I’ll share more about my goals for the month in a blog post later this week.

Last week was busy. I worked at a conference trade show for a few days, so I'm a little fatigued from the long days. Yesterday, I started my day with a trip to the outdoor farmer's market in my community. I’ve missed going to the farmer's market for fresh produce and locally produced products. My schedule has been busy on the weekends with Junior League activities, so I haven’t had a chance to go this year. On Saturday, I made an impromptu trip to the farmer's market. I woke up saying I’m prioritizing health and wellness during the first week of May. During my trip to the market, I picked up beets, multicolored carrots, radishes, lion's mane mushrooms, turmeric, ginger granola, lentil soup, and beet hummus. I’ll share my menu for the week in a blog post later this week. For the past month, I’ve prioritized eating at least one plant-based meal a day.

My cousin also got married yesterday, so I ended my Saturday attending his wedding in a nearby suburb of Atlanta. Today, I am just resting at home, planning for the week by doing laundry and meal prepping.

Now let’s get onto what I’m currently loving, wanting, and excited to try.

What I’m currently loving…

I’m in a six-week small group at church, and we are wrapping up our last session today. We are finishing the book The Next Right Thing. This book surprised me in many ways. I had signed up for another group at church but instead, I was placed in this group with three ladies. I’m a big believer that everything happens for a reason. I was hesitant about reading this book because it had mixed reviews. But to my surprise, I really enjoyed the book. It was very transformational in helping me rethink how I look at life.

I recently picked up several new cookbooks during Anthropologie’s spring sale. I purchased Love to Eat by Nicole Keshishian Modaic, Cook for the Soul by Lucy Lord, and How to Cook Everything Fast by Mark Bittman. I spent last week reading all of them and tagging all of the recipes I want to try. In case you didn’t know, I'm a cookbook collector and have a great collection of diverse cookbooks.

I have been on the hunt for the best long-lasting blush and mascara, and I think I found two products that work for me. During a recent trip to Sephora, I picked up the Milk Lip + Cheek Blush Stick and Ami Cole Volumizing and Lash Lengthening. I love this blush because it's multi-purpose and still looks good after several hours of wear. If you read my previous post, you might recall me mentioning two other mascaras I wanted to try. Well, I tried them and returned them because they irritated my eyes. The search continued until the Hoda and Jenna show raved about this Black-owned mascara brand Ami-Cole. I tried it and I’m obsessed. My eyelashes look like I have extensions and they haven’t irritated my eyes.

What I’m excited to try…

I picked up Lion’s Mane mushrooms at the Farmer’s Market on Saturday. I’m excited to experiment with more vegan recipes. I’m going to use the mushrooms to make these vegan crab cakes this week.

Articles I’ve bookmarked:

What I’ve watched:

I love watching Grease: Rise of The Pink Ladies series on the Paramount + app. I’m a fan of the original Grease movies but I love the diversity represented in this remake.

I just finished watching the new season of Indian Matchmaking on Netflix.

I hope you have a happy Sunday and an amazing week!
