My 2024 Word of the Year

As the calendar flips to a fresh page, a familiar urge tugs at me – the urge to choose an anchor word, as a foundation for the journey ahead. In past years, I've sought to bloom, flourish, and live with intention. Each word painted a vibrant chapter in my life, a testament to growth and purpose.  But this year, the urgency feels different. I wasn’t rushing to pick a word of the year or set a laundry list of goals. However, one word kept leaping toward me to pick as my mantra for the year and that is joy. I heard it in therapy, in songs, in scripture, in conversation, in articles and music. So it instantly became a natural fit.  This year I'm inviting joy to dance with me, to weave its golden thread through the lines of my days.

I’m choosing to live each day with joy and gratitude regardless of its outcome. I’m striving to have a joyful life, home, relationship, faith, well-being, appearance, work and mindset. Let's make 2024 the year of joy, one smile, one laugh, one unexpected moment at a time!

If something doesn’t bring you joy you have to let it go!

Here are a few scriptures about joy that I’m leaning on this year:

  • Romans 15:13: "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope."

  • Psalm 16:11: "You have made known to me the path of life; in your presence, there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore."

  • Psalm 33:1: "Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; for praise befits the upright."

  • Proverbs 15:23: "A joyful heart makes good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:16: "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

  • John 15:11: These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

  • Nehemiah 8:10: The Joy of the LORD is your strength
